Based in Shropshire, England's largest inland county, covering an area of 1,347 square miles. It is a beautiful pastoral county with a landscape that has inspired visitors for centuries, several historic and prosperous market towns, and hundreds of sleepy, traditional villages lies Cartwrights Waste Services, a waste management business that has been in operation for over 40 years.

Recently Cartwrights Waste have taken delivery of a new 26t KGH with the additional front pod which will enable them to collect multiple waste streams. Cartwrights Waste Disposal has specialised in the delivery of Integrated Waste Management Solutions and Skip Hire, supporting clients across the whole of Shropshire and its surrounding borders, ranging from blue chip multinationals to SMEs, in their aim to dispose of waste in an environmentally safe and controlled manner. Founded in 1983, Cartwrights started out with one lorry and 7 skips, thanks to progressive growth over the years they are now operating 30 trucks and around 4000 skips and bins.

The KGH+FK Refuse Collection vehicle is a powerful body mainly designed for 3-axle chassis with a gross weight of up to 26 tonnes, designed for high durability and easy to manoeuvre despite its large size. Cartwrights opted for the DAF XD chassis for its direct vision for busy urban areas and easy two-step entry for drivers climbing in and out of the cab many times a day. Excellent direct view on the road today is vital, especially when urban roads are crowded and full of unprotected and unpredictable road users.

John Cartwright, Managing Director of Cartwrights Waste Services

“We opted for this RCV to allow us to complete a one pass operation, giving flexibility to waste segregation at source and It will help increase segregated waste collections in conjunction with current operational vehicles. It will help greatly with capacity increasing our current segregated recycling collections with the one pass operation currently in place. We are dedicated to one pass segregated waste collections throughout the whole of Shropshire and mid Wales reducing our Carbon Footprint impact and increasing recycling at source”.

The KGH allows for the simultaneous collection of different waste streams, such as recyclables and general waste, in a single trip. This not only improves efficiency but also reduces the carbon footprint by minimising the number of journeys required.

NTM Area Sales Manager, Martin Jones

“It has been a pleasure working with Carwrights Waste Services on this project. John requested some modifications to the specification compared to the previous model, which we discussed and agreed upon. Seeing the completed vehicle, fully sign-written, is truly rewarding. It’s exciting to see another KGH added to a customer’s fleet. I look forward to spotting this vehicle as it travels around Shropshire and the surrounding areas”.

The split-body technology is among the most advanced in the industry, ensuring that Cartwrights Waste can offer unparalleled service to their customers while also meeting stringent environmental standards. The new vehicle recently delivered by NTM-GB are equipped with the latest technology to optimise performance and efficiency, they can handle bins from 240l-1100l and include a bin-weigh system which allows Cartwrights to provide transparency in terms of collection, weight data, and accurate recycling reports.
